Trust.
Who do you trust?
Be careful, for there are few things you can really trust. Well, actually only one: Love. God IS Love, Pure Love. Not what the world thinks is love. Not the passionate, sexual, frantic love this society has come to idolize. No, I mean True Love, unfailing Love, gracious Love. Never. Ending. Love. The Love that lights, that lifts, that carries. The Love that transcends. There is none (none) like It. Nothing in all the world compares to it. This Love consists of putting others before yourself. This Love screams sacrifice. This Love moves mountains. This Love is active, this Love is alive. It’s the only thing I’m learning to trust my life with. Everything else will fail me.
Jon Foreman puts it like this, “You see, everything in this life can let you down. Right now, the chair I am sitting in could break and fail me. In a few minutes I can go up and sing on that stage to thousands of people, but when I get off the stage my health could fail and I could lose my voice forever and never be able to sing again. I have a beautiful wife, but I could go home and find out she has been unfaithful. You see, everything in this life can fail you. Everything in this life is finite, meaning it doesn’t last, but only one thing is truly infinite and will last forever. Yes, everything in this life can and will let you down, but the beautiful thing about it is this, when everything lets you down in this world it leads you to the one thing that is truly beautiful…the unfailing love of Jesus Christ.”
He is the only True Beauty, the only Trustworthy thing in this beautiful letdown of a world. Trusting in Him is the thesis of my life; it’s a consistent effort that I’m still working on and plan to until the day I die. This year my trust in Him has been tested more than ever, and I cling to Him as my Salvation more and more as I realize Who He is. He is compassionate, rich in Love, full in mercy. He is the only One I can trust, and trust Him I will. I’m declaring it in Jesus’ name: I will trust in You.
